India begins preliminary tanks trials of its new light tank

The 'Zorawar' light tank, developed indigenously for high-altitude warfare, has passed preliminary trials in desert conditions. Set for induction by 2027 after further testing, the Army plans to procure 354 units costing Rs 17,500 crore. This development marks a significant step towards India's self-reliance in critical defence technologies amid ongoing tensions with China.
