Microsoft homegrown AI model can run on smartphones, laptops

Google brought its AI model Gemini Nano to the Pixel 8 Pro. Microsoft released Phi-2, a small language model that outperforms Meta Llama 2. Phi-2 requires less computing power than OpenAI's GPT-4. Microsoft also claims Phi-2 matches Google Gemini Nano. Microsoft plans to use small language models to cut costs.
