Microsoft's hardware unit head resigns, CEO Satya Nadella's statement on his departure

Microsoft's chief product officer, Panos Panay, is leaving the company to join Amazon and oversee their hardware business. Panay had been with Microsoft since 2004 and played a significant role in their hardware and Windows divisions, particularly with the Surface computer division and the Windows unit. Microsoft has scaled back its Surface operation recently, and Panay's departure comes as the company faces challenges with its HoloLens mixed-reality goggles project. Pavan Davuluri and Yusuf Mehdi are expected to be Panay's replacements in overseeing operating systems, devices, and partnerships.
