Scammers use 'wallet drainer' to steal $60 million in crypto: What is it

Researchers at ScamSniffer, a cybersecurity firm, have discovered that cybercriminals are using 'wallet drainers' to steal crypto assets through phishing scams on platforms like Google and X. These drainers were first discovered in Google search ad phishing and later found in X phishing ads. ScamSniffer monitored 10,072 phishing websites and found that nearly 60% of X phishing ads were using this drainer. The company analyzed on-chain data and found that these scams have stolen $58.98 million from over 63,000 victims in the past nine months. Wallet drainers trick users into authorizing malicious transactions by clicking on false advertisements.
