Japan's first-ever megaquake advisory: What does it mean?

Japan issued its first "megaquake advisory" after a 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit Kyushu's southeastern coast on August 8. Concerned about possible stronger quakes in the Nankai Trough, the government and public are urged to brace for future seismic activity.
