In a historic development, Uttar Pradesh proudly announces the operational commencement of its first private sector defence manufacturing facility. This state-of-the-art hub, located in Lucknow within the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC), is spearheaded by Aerolloy Technologies, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PTC Industries. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, during the inauguration on Saturday, emphasized the potential of the Indian defence industry to craft high-quality, cost-effective equipment. He expressed optimism that this achievement would not only enhance national security but position India as a significant exporter of military hardware globally.

Here are five crucial aspects to be aware of regarding this groundbreaking initiative:

  1. Facility Overview: Aerolloy Technologies, under the umbrella of PTC Industries, has successfully established the facility in the UPDIC in Lucknow. This cutting-edge hub is poised to manufacture a diverse range of defence equipment, including aircraft engines, helicopter engines, structural components for aircraft, drones, UAVs, submarines, ultra-light artillery guns, space launch vehicles, and strategic systems.
  2. Integrated Metal Manufacturing Facility: The Defence Minister laid the foundation stone for an integrated metal manufacturing facility under PTC Industries, where essential raw materials for aerospace applications will be produced. Singh highlighted the significance of these two units, projecting them as major milestones in India's journey toward self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

PTC Industries' Contribution: PTC Industries, known for supplying products to prestigious companies in India and abroad, plays a pivotal role in realizing the government's vision of transforming India into a net defence exporter. The Defence Minister underscored the company's commitment to this vision and acknowledged its recent achievement of obtaining a clearance certificate for critical On-line Fittings (OLFs) for defence applications from the Ministry of Defence.

Strategic Partnership Model: Minister Singh emphasized the government's efforts to foster a conducive environment for private sector growth, citing the strategic partnership model that facilitates mega defence programs, including fighter aircraft, helicopters, tanks, and submarines. He envisions private companies evolving into global giants through these opportunities.

Impacts and Achievements: Minister Rajnath Singh provided insights into the positive outcomes of government policies, citing the remarkable growth in defence exports, which have surpassed ₹38,000 crore in the last seven years. He highlighted the substantial involvement of over 10,000 SMEs in the defence sector, contributing to increased research and development, startup initiatives, innovation, and employment opportunities.

"In the last seven years, our defence exports have crossed the mark of ₹38,000 crore, and more than 10,000 SMEs have joined in the defence sector. Research and development, startup, innovation, and employment have also increased as a result of these policies," stated Rajnath Singh, showcasing the significant strides made in India's defence landscape.
